1) Can your driveways be laid all year round?
YES! Your new driveway can be laid all-year round, however it is a slightly longer process during the Winter months. Rain can and will affect timescales during the Winter, however frost only affects at and below -8 degrees.
2) Does the Concrete Imprinting crack or fade?
The risk of your new driveway cracking can never be completely ruled out, however we minimise the risk by our higher-than-average specifications. From experience, if a crack does eventually develop, it will remain barely visible. Our colours do not fade. If the appearance of your driveway becomes 'faded', this means it simply needs to be resealed.
3) How long must I stay off my driveway?
In order to protect the finish of your driveway, we recommend at least 24 hours before walking/pedestrian traffic and then a further 24 hours after your driveway has been sealed.
4) Can you do my driveway if it's raining?
Preparation of your driveway can be undertaken in the rain, however we will not be able to pour and set the concrete, therefore delaying the timescale of your completed drive.
5) Why do we need Crack Inducing Joints?
The object of a Crack Inducing Joint is so that if a crack should occur, it will follow the direction of the weakened points so that the crack never becomes visible. The Crack Inducing Joints are cut to a depth of 25% of the slab and are filled with mastic. These Crack Inducing Joints are cut in at regular intervals as recommended by British Standards.
6) How strong is the concrete used?
The concrete used is guaranteed to reach a strength of 30 newtons or more. This is the same strength required for motorway concrete. In the Summer months, we use 300kg cement per cubic metre and 380kg per cubic metre in the Winter. All our concrete is re-enforced using fibre mesh and contains air entrainers for frost protection.
7) If I don't like the colour of my new driveway, can I have a refund?
Whilst we make every effort to ensure that this scenario never happens, we are unable to provide refunds for based on colour. We have a wide range of colour samples and photographs/images, as well as our expert advice and guidance available to ensure that the colour you choose, is the colour you want.
8) How deep do you dig to prepare my new drive?
For all driveway applications and types we will dig down 200mm in preparation for your new driveway.
9) Is it a messy job?
During the day of concrete pouring, it can be dusty especially if the wind-levels are high. On the following day we will remove all traces of dust with a pressure washer. All waste materials will also be removed from site prior to our departure.
10) How many colours and patterns are available?
We have a wide range of over 20 main colours and 8 main pattern designs available. In addition, we do not charge extra should you wish to mix and match colours and/or patterns on one driveway.
11) How do I deal with accidental spillages?
You may find that for most common spillages such as oil, washing-up liquid is ideal, although the quicker you are able to treat it, the easier removal will be.
12) How long does the protective sealant last?
The sealants we use to protect your new driveway are designed to last between 3 and 8 years depending upon wear and tear. The sealant itself will remain strong, however after this time your driveway may become dull and appear faded. We can re-apply a new coat of sealant for you which will return your driveway back to it's 'just-new' finish should you require.
